3200 miles...There
must be a good Reason!!!

Trip
Vision
Sitting on a rock next to the Yellowstone River, I watched the water
swirl and ripple. The trout rose sporadically catching their
dinner. The water flowed north and just down stream was an
amazing waterfall with class 5 white-water below it. Mesmerized
by the ever-changing kaleidoscope of light scattered by the gushing
stream, I thought to myself, "This same water will eventually end
up in the Gulf of Mexico, some 3,200 miles downstream." The
notion grew on me. If a person was persistent enough and followed
the river long enough, they would indeed reach the Atlantic Ocean……..The
dream was formed.
Dream is Actualized
The Achieve Your Dreams Expedition will depart on September 2, 2000
from Gardner, MT. Paddling approximately 3,200 miles from
Yellowstone National Park to New Orleans, LA.; the voyage will last
more than 100 days and follow the Yellowstone - Missouri - Mississippi
River Systems.
Trip Purpose
"The importance of passionately pursuing your dreams must never
be underestimated." Psychologists agree that lack of
goals and vision of the future are leading causes of many of society's
biggest problems. The most effective treatments for depression,
drug abuse, and alcoholism, all include goal setting
and developing visions for the future.
We are making this journey to demonstrate that by passionately pursuing
your dreams, great feats can be accomplished. The expedition
will attempt to raise $200,000 for organizations that encourage
youth to broaden their horizons, set goals, and dream. Organizations
like Make a Wish Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs, Corrymeella
Community, and Reconnecting Youth.
